My mum received so much support from the “BRCA sisters” that she met through the National Hereditary Breast and Ovarian Cancer Helpline (NHBOCH). Wendy Watson, who founded the Helpline in 1996, was the first woman in the UK to have the pioneering preventative double mastectomy in 1992. Wendy and the girls have been invaluable to mum and her journey and they frequently meet up for holidyas, trips, and fundraisers as well as forming life long friendships and support groups. Mothership has also been in the annual Keeping Abreast Fashion show , a charity which supports mastectomy  reconstruction patients, another great resource for the BRCA sisters to call upon.
